Mario Jung (Korean, b. 1949) – Myung “Mario” Jung was born on September 14th, 1949 in Seoul, Korea. Inspired by a dream during a failing recovery from a catastrophic, third-story balcony fall, Myuang “Mario” Jung was forever changed. His promising career as an artist began in the mid 80’s, but his life changed dramatically when he was paralyzed, blinded and deafened as side effects from the fall. Not even interested in food, Mario had given up until he had a spiritual dream that renewed his strength and his will to live.
Leaving doctors, family and friends amazed and perplexed, Mario recovered completely and has since meticulously developed his flexible artistic style. Working in a multitude of genres, Mario’s emerging popularity is heightened by his ability to create a diverse range of work from classic and realistic skills, popular among Nu Realism collectors, to passionate impastos with richly textured details.
The artist’s extraordinary use of light, reflection, and dramatic brush strokes and attention to detail are quite unique and distinguish his work from his contemporaries. He studied at the Seoul Industrial Junior College, from which he graduated in 1971. In July, 1986 he entered the Exhibition of Fine Art of the Seoul Artists Association, and was awarded the Grand Prize of Western style painting, and invited to become a member of the Seoul Artists Association. His work has also been submitted to the Korea Art Exhibition, the New York Art Expo, and the Han Kook Art and Culture Association. Jung has an outstanding national and international reputation as an Artist.
