Roll your sleeves up and join instructor Jim Richards for a day filled with the practical use of Photoshop and Lightroom for importing, managing and editing reference material!
Overview:
Photoshop and Lightroom from Adobe are powerful applications, but they are extensive in their capabilities and learning everything in them can take months. This class focuses on the essentials for using Lightroom and Photoshop for artists who want to capture and edit reference photos to get the most out of them in support of their artwork. We will examine how you can establish your own practice for using Lightroom and Photoshop to make your photos more impactful and pick up some tricks and techniques along the way.
This is a roll your sleeves up and practice what you are learning workshop. You should bring in a laptop, tablet, or phone to follow-along in Photoshop and Lightroom to get the most out of the workshop. Some notes and tips will be provided as part of the class so you can focus learning the material. Questions are welcome and will be addressed, depending on time constraints. We want to make sure that you are learning how you can use Photoshop and Lightroom as an aid to creating art.

- When to use Lightroom and when to use Photoshop
- Understanding the power of Lightroom Organization Tools
- Using Lightroom editing tools
- The meaning of non-destructive editing
- How and why to use Photoshop layers

- How to retouch you photos (scratches, blemishes, etc.)
- Compositing in Photoshop
- Camera Raw and Camera Raw Filter
- Handy tool-tips

- Instructor supplied: tips and basic notes
- Student supplied: a computing device with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop installed and ready to use.
