Bob Dodson-Artists in Action Gallery
B
I am a Salem-based artist and utilize a variety of mediums – acrylic, assemblage, collage and clay. At the moment I am primarily focused in working with clay because of the endless possibilities found in the medium.
My work is an ever-changing representation of my journey through life. I am driven to create from the steady stream of concept/mystery/ideal that streams through my mind. My work ranges from the whimsical to the esoteric. I have become known for my whimsical ceramic crow and robot sculptures.
I have my work on display at various galleries in the state: Ten Oaks Gallery in McMinnville, Valley Art Gallery in Forest Grove and Art Center East in La Grande. I will be a guest artist in March 2024 at Art Elements in Newberg, Oregon. My last solo show was 2021 at Art Center East.
Artist Statement:
My work is an ever-changing representation of my journey through life. I am driven to create from the steady stream of concept/mystery/ideas that stream through my mind.
I create art primarily for myself — to see something I have not seen before and I desire to see in a realized state. I am at my happiest when I am in the “process” of fixing a stream of concepts into something concrete. In the act of creating, all things are possible and what I emerge with is only a representation of choice after choice after choice and the end result is simply one possibility out of thousands.
This endless array of ideas and concepts keeps me pushing forward and experimenting in many mediums.
